He was the first in Western New York to perform endovenous radiofrequency saphenous ablation (VNUS Closure procedure) in September 2003. He received the Business First “Health Care Heroes Award” for “Innovation in Health Care” in April 2004 for this advance. To date he has performed nearly 4000 of these procedures.

Because of his experience he was asked to be the first in New York State to use the new Closure Fast catheter prior to its general release. He has taught many physicians and fellows locally and nationally his techniques.

He is most known for his promotion of the Venous Clinical Severity Score. His original research is published in of the Journal of Vascular Surgery (JVasc Surg 2007; 45:1008-15). He has lead an international, inter-disciplinary working group of the American Venous Forum that updated and revised the score. This Revised Venous Clinical Severity Score (J Vasc Surg 2010;52:1387-96) sets the worldwide standard to follow clinical outcomes in venous treatments. He is also co-author of Clinical practice guidelines of the Society for Vascular Surgery and the American Venous Forum ( J Vasc Surg 2011;53:2S-48S), a full Supplement to the May issue of Journal of Vascular Surgery.

He has delivered 60 major presentations throughout the world on his work. He has been published in 6 book chapters, 4 comprehensive review articles and multiple abstracts. He has been awarded a nationally funded Research-In-Practice grant from the American College of Phlebology to compare outcome measures. He is a Principal Investigator in an FDA approved Phase 3 Clinical Trial of a new varicose vein treatment. He has been interviewed frequently by television, radio and written media. In 2009 he was featured in an article published by the State University New York at Buffalo School of Medicine publication the Buffalo Physician. Most recently he was awarded the “Health Care 50 Award”, by the WNY Business First newspaper to honor “extraordinary professionals involved in the medical field.”

Dr. Vasquez serves on multiple national committees and organizations dedicated to the advancement in knowledge and treatment of vascular disease. These include the Society of Vascular Surgery Health Policy Committee, the American Venous Forum, the American College of Phlebology, the Eastern Vascular Society, the Venous Disease Coalition, and the International Society of Endovascular Specialists. He is active on the recently created Intersocietal Venous, Insurance, and Government Relations Committee (IVIGRC) for the purpose of advancing evidence-based medicine and outcomes data that supports best practice methods in venous disorders. He is currently the Vice President for the Western New York Vascular Society and Past President of the Buffalo Surgical Society. He is Board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He directs a Vascular Lab and has additional certification as a Registered Vascular Technologist.

Glenn is an adjunct assistant professor of surgery in the Daemen College Physician Assistant program. He was recognized by the New York State Society of Physician Assistants as 2007 Physician Assistant Educator of the year. He was an invited speaker to his profession's National Conference in 2008 in San Antonio, TX to speak on venous insufficiency. He has once again been invited to speak for the 2009 American Academy of Physician Assistants Conference in San Diego, California. This year's topic is venous thromboembolism.
